Adelaide Crows Football Club 2017

The Adelaide Crows Football Club joined the newly formed Australian Football League in 1991 and quickly established themselves as a quality football team. Nicknamed 'The Crows', they were the first team from Adelaide to be granted an AFL licence and achieved back to back premierships in 1997-98.

After previously playing their home matches at AAMI Stadium in Adelaide, the Crows now play all home games at the newly refurbished Adelaide Oval. The ground is located in the heart of Adelaide's CBD and should become a bit of a fortress for the Crows.

Club colours are red, yellow and navy blue and the Crows generally attract a packed stadium of passionate locals which can give them a decided home ground advantage over their opponents.

Adelaide Crows 2016 Season

The Adelaide Crows had a solid 2016, finishing 5th on the ladder after the home and away season and making finals. A disappointing final round loss at home to the West Coast proved pivotal, as it cost the Crows a top four berth for the first week of the finals. Consequently, after easily accounting for North Melbourne in an elimination final, they were put out of the finals race by eventual Grand Finalists Sydney, to the tune of 36 points.

Losing dynamic ball winner Patrick Dangerfield to Geelong was telling for the club, although it allowed others to step up to fill the Dangerfield void, such as best & fairest winner Rory Sloane, and fellow midfielder Matt Crouch, who had most disposals for the club with 609 touches. Forward Eddie Betts led the Crows goal kicking with 75 majors, while defender Daniel Talia was excellent down back.

Adelaide Crows 2016 Best and Fairest winner: Rory Sloane

Midfielder Rory Sloane captured his second Malcolm Blight Medal with 315 votes, defeating runner-up Eddie Betts on 249 votes. Tom Lynch polled 215 votes to finish in third place.

A home match against the GWS Giants at the Adelaide Oval awaits the Adelaide Crows in the opening round and they face the West Coast Eagles away in the final round of the home and away season. The Crows have the bye in Round 13.
