In 1991 the Adelaide Crows Football Club joined the newly formed Australian Football League and quickly established themselves as a quality football team. The club, nicknamed 'The Crows',
were the first team from Adelaide to be granted an AFL licence and they achieved back to back premierships in 1997-98.
The Crows home ground is AAMI Stadium which is in the heart of Adelaide and has become a bit of a fortress for the home side. Club colours are red, yellow and navy blue and the Crows generally play their home games in front of a packed stadium of passionate locals which gives them a decided home ground advantage over their opponents.
In season 2009 the Adelaide Crows had a fine home and away season winning 14 games, but they were again found wanting in the finals, going down by 5 points to Collingwood in a classic night semi-final match at the MCG.
