Geelong Football Club 2010

The Geelong Football Club was established in 1859 and is second behind the Melbourne Football Club as the oldest club of any code in the world. Known as the 'Cats’ they entered the league as a foundation club in 1897 and during their existence have won 8 premierships.

Geelong play their home matches at Skilled Stadium in Geelong, which is about a 30 minute drive down the Princes Highway from Melbourne, and club colours are blue and white.

Geelong is the home of former champion player Gary Ablett Snr who is considered by many to be one of the games greatest players. The legend's son Gary Ablett Jnr currently plays for the Cats and won the 2009 Brownlow Medal with 30 votes.

In recent times, the Cats have become the benchmark for other teams and completed their second Grand Final win in three years when they defeated St Kilda for the 2009 flag. Geelong also took out the 2007 flag before finishing runner-up to Hawthorn in 2008 the following year.
