The Sydney Swans Football Club (formerly South Melbourne) were a foundation club in the AFL way back in 1897. Initially known as South Melbourne, financial pressures seen the club move to Sydney in 1982 where they took on the name of the 'Sydney Swans'.
Wearing club colours of red and white, they play their home games at the Sydney Cricket Ground or SCG, and also at ANZ Stadium in Sydney. The Swans have won 4 premierships in their history, with 2005 being the latest, and in recent times have appeared regularly in finals.

Sydney Swans in 2011
The Sydney Swans had a pretty good season under first-year coach John Longmire and they produced a number of good youngsters including Alex Johnson and Luke Parker, while the usual suspects in Adam Goodes, Ryan O'Keefe, Jude Bolton, Rhyce Shaw and Ted Richards were all highly servicable.
Losing Daniel Bradshaw and Craig Bolton for the season without even playing a game hurt the Sydney team but they bounced back to be one of the more competitive and honest sides in the competition.
Sydney Swans 2011 Best and Fairest winner: Adam Goodes
Dual Brownlow Medallist Adam Goodes had a great season for Sydney that included 511 disposals, 41 goals and almost 4 tackles per game.
