Track ratings in Australia range from firm to heavy and our racing can be adversely affected by weather at different stages of the season. Up north in Queensland the weather is pretty good all year round which lends itself to racing on fast/good track most weeks, whereas down south in NSW and Victoria there can be very heavy rains in winter which can result in heavy, bog tracks that are not ideal for serious betting. There is an old, wise adage that says "When it's wet, don't bet" and if you want to have a bet in the wet then look for horses that have exposed wet track form before placing a bet.
