The Caulfield Guineas is a Group One three-year-old classic event run over 1600 metres on the first day of the Caulfield Spring racing carnival in October each year. The race is worth over $1,000,000 in prizemoney and has been won by some of the greats of the turf including Manikato, Sovereign Red and Mahogany. The race is held at Caulfield racecourse one week before the running of the Caulfield Cup. The last filly to win the Caulfield Guineas was the mighty Surround in 1976.
