The Gilgai Stakes is a Group 2 race run over a distance of 1200 metres down the straight course at Flemington during the Melbourne spring racing carnival. The race takes place annually and is raced under set weights and penalty conditions for three-year-old horses and upwards.
The Gilgai Stakes is held each year at Flemington racecourse on the same day as the Turnbull Stakes and is worth $250,000 in prizemoney. The race is run down the straight 1200 metre course and suits those gallopers with previous form at the track and distance. The 2009 Gilgai Stakes was taken out by talented sprinter All Silent.
