The LKS Mackinnon Stakes is a Group One event that is run during the Melbourne Spring racing carnival. The race is a Weight-For-Age event run over a distance of 2000 metres and is held on the last Saturday prior to the running of the Melbourne Cup which takes place on the first Tuesday in November each year. The race is worth over $750,000 and is a good lead up race for horses contesting the Melbourne Cup on the following Tuesday.
