The
Manikato Stakes is a Group One weight-for-age event that attracts quality horses and takes place at Moonee Valley during the Melbourne spring racing carnival. It was formerly known as the Freeway Stakes but was changed to honour champion sprinter Manikato who ran his best races at Moonee Valley and is now a legend of racing in this country.
