The McEwen Trophy is a good race for horses who have a penchant for the Moonee Valley track and 1000 metres distance, and suited by the weight-for-age conditions of the race. Look for horses who have the score on the board at Moonee Valley, especially multiple times at WFA over the same distance. The brilliant Miss Andretti won this race in 2006 before going on to salute in a number of quality group races. Moonee Valley 1000m specialist Kaphero was an easy winner in 2008.
