The Toorak Handicap is a Group One open handicap event over the metric mile and is held at Caulfield during the Melbourne spring racing carnival each October. The Toorak Hcp takes place on the first day of the three day racing carnival at Caulfield and has been taken out by some handy gallopers over the years such as Regal Roller, Unrum, Poetic King, Cole Diesel and Canny Lass.

The Toorak Handicap has a long history and has stood the test of time as a strong handicap race that is generally contested by above average handy gallopers rather than the elite. It is the only Group One race for open horses over a mile during the Caulfield carnival and is a good lead up race for events like the Waterford Crystal Mile at Moonee Valley on Cox Plate Day or the Myer Classic later in the spring on Derby Day at Flemington.
The Toorak is held on the same card as the Group One classic for three-year-olds, the Caulfield Guineas and offers prizemoney of $350,000. The race was won by King Mufhasa in 2011.
