The Toorak Handicap has a long history that has stood the test of time as a strong handicap race that sees above average handy horses contest the race rather than the elite. It is the only group one race for open horses during the Caulfield carnival and is a good lead up race for events like the Waterford Crystal Mile or Myer Classic later in the spring. With prizemoney of $353,000 it was won in 2008 by the classy galloper Alamosa.
