AAMI Victoria Derby
is one of the great classic races on the racing calendar and the premier staying event for three-year-olds in Melbourne during the Spring Racing Carnival. The VRC Victoria Derby is a set weights event run over a distance of 2500 metres at the spacious Flemington racecourse in Melbourne.

The VRC AAMI Victoria Derby is held on the first day of the Flemington four day racing carnival and it is always run on the Saturday before the Melbourne Cup which is the following Tuesday, before the Crown Oaks on the Thursday, followed by the final day on Saturday which is Emirates Stakes day. The race has prizemoney of $1,500,000 & $10,000 trophies and was won in 2008 by Rebel Raider in front of 117,776 people.

The VRC AAMI Victoria Derby is a blue ribbon event for 3yo's and Derby day is one of the biggest day's racing held in Australia each year with crowds in excess of 115,000 people attending over the past few years. The Derby day programme includes 10 group races with four quality group one events that culminate in the running of the $1.5 million dollars AAMI Victoria Derby.
